We Research Every Product
Before we recommend anything, we analyze manufacturer specifications, expert publications, and hundreds of verified customer reviews. We track pricing trends, warranty details, and long-term reliability reports. Our research phase takes 2-3 weeks per product category.
We Test and Compare
Our team tests products against category-specific criteria — criteria that matter to real buyers, not abstract benchmarks. We compare each product head-to-head against category leaders. In our research for the gold detector category, we evaluated over 15 models before narrowing to our top 8 picks.
We Evaluate Performance
We tested 40+ metal detectors in 2026 across multiple detection scenarios: gold nuggets in mineralized soil, coins in trashy parks, relics in iron-heavy ground, and jewelry in wet beach sand. We measure depth, target ID accuracy, discrimination capabilities, and ease of use for beginners vs experienced detectorists.

Our recommendations are never influenced by brand partnerships. We earn through Amazon affiliate links when readers make purchases — but affiliate commissions don’t influence what we recommend. What We Review

What We Don’t Do
We don’t accept payment from brands to feature products. We don’t inflate ratings to drive affiliate sales. We don’t publish reviews for products we haven’t researched and evaluated. We don’t use sponsored content or paid placements.
We don’t write fake personal narratives like “When I took the Garrett AT Gold prospecting last summer in Arizona’s Superstition Mountains…” Those fabricated stories damage credibility. Our voice is the team’s collective editorial judgment — grounded in research, testing, and comparison.
